In this manner, the road vibrations are not felt in the vehicle's cabin. It places a shock absorbing layer under the tread, which isolates the vehicle from the road disturbances. The Comfort Balance Technology was utilized to achieve a comfortable performance. The Grabber ATX reduces the road vibrations felt and noise heard in the vehicle's cabin. As a result, the tire is capable of carrying and withstanding heavier loads with ease, providing a safer off-road performance. The model was manufactured with the special Duragen construction which places high-strength steel belts, two polyamide plies and the polyester casing in the structure that maintains the optimal tire shape under the driving and load pressure. In this manner, the steering becomes faster and more precise in its response to the driver's commands, while it stabilizes the structure against the driving pressure affecting the model during the drive. The tread's flat footprint maintains the tire's road and terrain surface contact, which enhances its steering responsiveness and driving stability. The tread design and reinforced internal structure increase the model's controllability. This keeps the tire's contact with the road and terrain surface and avoids stone retention from harming the tire's casing, resulting in an upgraded driving safety. They disperse mud and snow and eject rocks stuck between the tread elements. The staggered tread blocks, open shoulders and optimal groove design maintain a clean footprint. The Traction Notches and the five-row pattern enhance the model's multi-angle grip, increasing its forward traction in deeper mud and loose dirt. The tread features Traction Notches that improve the model's performing capability and promotes a safer soft, loose and uneven terrain gripping ability. The tread design's flat footprint and optimized tread elements enable the tire's on- and off-road surface gripping ability. The model ensures an excellent all terrain performance. The increased all weather traction and hydroplaning prevention guarantee a secure year round performing capability. When driving on-road, the tread's optimal groove pattern manages to avoid hydroplaning by eliminating water and slush from below the tire's footprint. This allows the tire to safely perform on ice- and snow-covered surfaces, which earned it its three mountain peak and snowflake symbol. The compound keeps its flexibility throughout the year, including in colder temperatures, while the high siping detail and the staggered tread blocks of the tread design boost the performing capability year round. The model combines an excellent all weather compound and a detailed symmetric tread design to increase the dry, wet and winter weather road and terrain gripping ability. The tire offers first-rate all weather traction.

General offers a 60,000 mile treadwear warranty with the metric sizes and a 50,000 mile treadwear warranty with the light truck and flotation sizes of this tire model.

But most importantly, the DOT tire can be purchased by anyone at any General Tire retail location. The General Grabber ATX is an all terrain, all weather tire manufactured for SUVs and light trucks. Also, the DOT tire is a bit lighter in weight and features an improved sidewall design compared with the race tire. On the race tire, the tread block sizes are all the same and they just howl away. Computer-optimized tread design varies the size of the lugs in pitch and sequence so the noise frequencies cancel each other out. Also, the DOT tire is much quieter on highway due to varying-sized tread blocks. For starters, the 37x12.50R17LT DOT tire has a narrower tread face than the 37-inch race tire. The delivery truck dropped them off literally the day before we had to get this issue to the printer, so we didn’t even have time to mount them on a vehicle yet, but suffice to say, despite looking virtually identical to the race-only 37-inch Grabbers, the DOT-legal versions have a few key technical features that set them apart from the race-only tires. We got one of the very first sets of DOT-legal 37x12.50R17s available to the general public and just had to share.

Yeah, but those are leftover race or promotional tires for off-road use only. “But I see JKs on 37s and prerunners all over the place running 37-inch Grabbers!” you might be thinking. But what you probably didn’t know is that up until recently (very recently, in fact), any of those Grabbers you saw sized larger than 35-inch-diameter weren’t DOT legal. In fact, you’ve seen Grabbers all over the place for years.
